Trauma Survivors' Day - May 18 2016

On May 18 2015, AfterTrauma in partnership with the American Trauma Survivors Network, will once again be celebrating National Trauma Survivors Day. The day is an important opportunity to acknowledge the experiences and courage of trauma survivors and their families. It's also an opportunity to raise awareness of the work of the trauma clinicians and researchers around the world who dedicate their lives to caring and finding better treatments for traumatic injury.

This is the second year we will be celebrating this important day.  And we will joined by trauma centres across London and other parts of the UK, some of whom will be holding events for trauma survivors, showcasing the work of their trauma teams, and raising money for trauma related causes.

The trauma team at The Royal London hospital will be raising money for Barts Charity’s trauma appeal.  Clinicians and former patients will cycle in teams for 12 hours to raise vital funds and awareness of the incredible work that everyone involved in trauma medicine carries out 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  All money raised will go to the Barts Charity trauma fund to support research into better treatments for trauma, and to support trauma survivors in their recovery journey. You can download a flyer about the event here.

If you would like to be involved please contact Simon (Simon.Pitts@bartshealth.nhs.ukor Nicole (n.skeltys@qmul.ac.uk)
